It was the end of the 90 decade, when this young family found this beautiful gem in the heart of the city of Alajuela.
The original tropical Victorian home, which is now known Los Volcanes, was a private family residence belonging to the Llobet family, built at the turn of the 20th century.
In 1998 the jobs started to convert this former mansion, in to a little charming B&B Hotel to conveniently located less than 10 minutes from the SJO International airport due to the popularity of Costa Rica, that started to experience the visit of travelers attracted by the leadership of this peaceful country in nature conservation in the world.
There was a desire to experience their beaches, protected areas and among other things the volcanoes.
For such a small country, Costa Rica sure does have a lot of Volcanoes. Costa Rica has only 19,700 square miles of area (a little small than the State of West Virginia) but has over 200 volcanic formations. The large number of volcanos is due to the clashing of the Pacific tectonic Plate with the Caribbean Tectonic Plate. Coast Rica’s volcanic history which distributed minerals and thus fertile soil throughout the country has contributed greatly to the biodiversity in the country.
So this family decided to honor Costa Rica as a land of Volcanoes, and name this coming B&B Hotel Los Volcanes.
Nowadays, getting closer to it second generation, Hotel los Volcanes offers the old world ambiance but with modern facilities at reasonable prices.
Our goal is to open the doors of our country, providing the warmth hospitality and our experience to become the gateway to discover all Costa Rica has to offer.
